The Role
Your job is to get our products mentioned, linked and recommended in the places that shape rankings and AI answers: authoritative publications, niche communities, directories, review platforms, and the sources ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity pull from.

What You'll Do
Link building & digital PR
- Plan and run backlink campaigns for each product: guest posts, resource pages, broken-link replacement, unlinked brand mentions, and data-led PR
- Pitch journalists, bloggers and newsletters (parenting, EdTech and child safety for WhitelistVideo; construction, property and home finance in AU for Lead Machine)
- Use HARO-style platforms (Qwoted, Featured, Source of Sources) to get expert quotes placed
- Screen every opportunity for relevance, traffic and link quality. No PBNs, link farms or paid-link schemes
AI search visibility (GEO)
- Get our products named in AI answers, not only cited as sources. Find the lists, comparisons, forums and review sites that AI models draw on, and earn a place in them
- Track brand mentions for priority prompts in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and report changes over time
Directories, listings & reviews
- Manage listings on SaaS, app, startup and niche directories, plus Chrome Web Store and app store presence for WhitelistVideo
- Manage local citations and business profiles for the AU sites: Google Business Profile, Yellow Pages, True Local, hipages and industry bodies
- Build a steady flow of genuine reviews on the platforms that matter. Fake or incentivised reviews are never allowed
Community & partnerships
- Take part in relevant communities (Reddit, Quora, parenting forums, AU home-building groups) with real, useful answers, not spam
- Find partners with complementary audiences: schools, parenting creators, mortgage brokers, building industry associations
Tracking & reporting
- Keep a clean outreach and link tracker (target, contact, status, live URL, DR, anchor, date)
- Send a weekly report on links won, referring domains, AI mentions, rankings and referral traffic
- Watch the backlink profile for toxic links and competitor gains
What We're Looking For
Must have
- 4+ years of hands-on off-page SEO or link building, with live placements you can show us
- Solid understanding of link quality, anchor text strategy, topical relevance and Google's spam policies
- Experience with Ahrefs, Semrush or similar, plus Google Search Console
- Outreach emails that people actually reply to, in clear, confident English
- You use AI tools daily for research, prospecting and drafting, and you check what they produce
- Organised and systematic: you track everything, follow up, and nothing slips
- You can work independently across several products with different audiences
Good to have
- Digital PR experience with media placements in tier-1 or niche publications
- Experience with local SEO in Australia
- Familiarity with GEO/AEO (optimising for AI search answers)
- Experience in parenting, EdTech, consumer apps, construction or property
- Outreach tools like Hunter.io, Pitchbox, BuzzStream or Respona
How We Measure Success
- Relevant referring domains added each month, by product
- Share of brand mentions in AI answers for target prompts
- Ranking gains on priority keywords
- Referral traffic and conversions from earned placements
- Tracker accuracy and how quickly you send reports
Selection Process
Your resume, 3–5 placements you personally earned, and answers to 3 application questions. There's no right answer to look up — we want your own work and thinking.
Shortlisted candidates walk us through their placements live — the outreach thread, the tracker, and how each link was won.
If it's a fit, you join full-time with a 3-month probation.

FAQ
Why 4+ years?
You'll own off-page SEO across several products with very different audiences, with no one above you to set strategy except the founder. That needs someone who has already run campaigns end to end.
Can I share placements I built for clients?
Yes, as long as you personally earned them. Expect to show the outreach thread or tracker entry on the walkthrough call.
Do you accept paid links or PBN placements as experience?
No. Bought links, PBNs, link farms and link-exchange schemes don't count, and applications built on them won't be shortlisted.
Can I be let go during probation?
Yes. The first 3 months are a probation period. Engagement may be discontinued at any point for work quality, personality fit, cultural fit, or any other mismatch. You'll always get clear feedback along the way.
Do I need to know Australian local SEO?
It's a strong plus for the Lead Machine sites, not a requirement.
